Why a Primal Ice Costs More. Quality Matters
Most ice baths look identical online. They aren't. Here are the five hidden differences that determine how long your ice bath lasts and how well it performs.
Functional First Design
Most ice baths are designed to optimise for aesthetics at the lowest possible manufacturing cost. Lower grade, untreated wood (not suitable for outdoors). Thin stainless steel which rusts overtime. And inadequate insulation (which means the chiller has to work harder).
Every Primal Ice is built from full length, 100% Canadian timber, 316 stainless steel, and optimal insulation between the cedar and stainless steel.
Our tub not only looks great but is designed to handle the harshest outdoor conditions. Proper stainless steel thickness and insulation means the chiller will cost less to run, and have a superior lifespan.
Chiller Capacity
Not all chillers are the same, even though the horse power is. Most people simply look at the horse power to determine a chillers capacity. Brands know this, so whilst HP may be comparable, core components, input power and cooling capacity differ.
Pound for pound we sell the most efficient and powerful chillers. You can choose form 0.3, 1hp, or 2hp. For all our chillers input power and cooling capacity is 25-50% higher than any other comparable chiller.
Don't just look for HP, this is just a starting point. Most brands try get away with low grade core components (under the shell) and under powered cooling capacity which costs more to run and doesn't reach the lowest temp in summer.
Ongoing Product Development
We have spent 4 years using our products and putting them to the test daily. This level of use and hands on experience has allowed us to constantly refine the details you'd otherwise miss.
Other companies are chasing a trend. You can't copy the details of a design by simply looking at whats pictured online, you can get 80% of the way there, maybe, but what really sets us apart is our high standards for the perfect product - because we use the equipment ourselves.
For a chiller to produce ice, we found that positioning inlet and outlet at a 90 degree angle produced ice more reliably. We also added internal pre stage filtration on the inlet/outlet for better chiller protection.
15 Point Quality Check
Before any Primal Ice leaves our warehouse, it's and put through 15 quality assurance tests.
Every tub undergoes a water test where its filled to the brim with water fully connected to spot any leaks before they become the customer problem to deal with.
Every chiller runs for 24hrs and is checked for filtration rate, speed of cooling / heating and wifi control.
You're investing thousands into an ice bath. The last thing you want is to discover a manufacturing defects halfway through installation.

From product design to quality assurance we leave no stone unturned when it comes to ensuring when you buy from us you get the most functional and reliable equipment we can produce.
Our tubs will last a lifetime with minimal or no effort, the chillers however need to be maintained. Things like changing the filter at the correct time make a difference - we send out detailed instructions, but things happen and when they do wether it's our fault or not we have you covered.
Once you buy from us, we treat the ongoing reliability of your equipment as our responsibility. We have repair workshops in California, and a nation-wide network of contractors, so wether you're inside or outside of warranty - we are here to support you.
